I’ve Been Tagged
Dan Greenfield, VP. Communications at Earthlink tagged me over the weekend for the 8 Random Things About Me meme. Truth be told, I’m not one for this tagging thing but, what the hell. I met Dan at a Social Media Club workshop in Palo Alto back in June. The workshop was about starting the conversation — Dan and I did just that.
Here are 8 random things about me:
- I’m just recently getting back into baseball. Having walked away from MLB after the 1994 strike when I vowed to never again return as a fan. I wouldn’t be back now except for my seven year old son is a baseball fanatic. Go Phillies!
- Two of my favorite reads: The Pentagon’s New Map: War and Peace in the Twenty-First Century by Thomas P.M. Barnett & An Army of Davids: How Markets and Technology Empower Ordinary People to Beat Big Media, Big Government, and Other Goliaths by Glenn Reynolds
- The last time I went to a movie (excluding taking my kids) was in 1998 (Saving Private Ryan.) If its not in rotation on USAirways – I haven’t seen it.
- I want a boat so bad!
- In 1984/85 I drove limousines for the casinos in Atlantic City.
- If I had to do it all over again, I’d become a meteorologist — My dream job is on-air-talent at the Weather Channel.
- My favorite restaurant in the world is in South Philadelphia’s Italian Market — Villa di Roma — cash only, no reservations, no ambiance; BUT, the best Italian food in the world! And yes, I have been to Italy!
- I’m a music junkie. My iPod is with me at all times and I’m always on the lookout for new music.

Just a note to say I’m enjoying your blog. You’ve done a good job in brining social media to the forefront for traditional IT vendors. But your “Tagged” blog is an issue — you can’t have a boat (according to your wife) and you’ve been spending too much time with the iPod! One piece of advice… don’t be a Phillies fan — you WILL be disappointed in the end.
Bill
Bill,
First let me say that I will get my boat. I’m a patient person and my wife will be worn down by my very persistent and persuasive arguments : ) I will agree with you on the iPod part. Perhaps a 12 step program of sorts is in order. With regard to the Phillies; my son is attending the Phillies baseball academy this week and today he’ll spend the day a Citizens Bank Park. You should have seen the smile on his face! Regardless of how the season ends, I won’t be dissapointed!
Mike, Looks like you have forgotten to tag 8 people. I participated in similar tagging sessions twice in the past. These tend to be cyclical, especially during holiday seasons. Good luck with the boat. I am one of those people who have never invested in an ipod. My wife was given a mini ipod (probably the wrong terminology) by a friend and its still in the original case. Wonder whether I could flog it on ebay. ebay is another I have not tried with. Worth doing a meme on 8 things I have not done, but could do dead easily, if I could be motivated….as you can see…I am just about to go on holiday….hence this silly ranting…catch you when I get back. Will respond to StacyF then…keep up the good work. Manoj
