About Me

My name is Mike Prosceno and I run “new” media relations at SAP. I am also a social media evangelist inside the company promoting both the internal use of social media for productivity gains as well as its use externally for reputation enhancment. Having been in corporate or marketing communications for 18 years, I have held a variety of management and non-management positions in the IT, manufacturing and financial-services industries.

About My Blog
The name Accidentally on Purpose describes the way I feel most good things come to be. For example, many things from breakfast cereals to  microwave ovens were invented by accident. Some accidents can be wonderful and rewarding. As a matter of fact, I think that most of our interesting and rewarding opportunities in life sneak up on us. My interest and involvement with the concepts, tools and people of social media is just such an example. Much is to be gained from involvement in social media and accidentally on purpose attempts to harness some of these benefits.
What I want to have here is an ongoing conversation about the Who, What, When, Where and Why of what social media means from a practical perspective. So much gets written about why you should care about social media, that too few people are actually talking about how to use it in the real world. I’m hoping that this blog helps move other lurkers into active participants or better yet, help those sitting on the fence to get engaged in social media.
If you want to get in contact with me or if you have more questions about social media or the purpose of this website, please email me at mprosceno@gmail.com
